Module 13: Learning from Failure

This module will introduce you to the role of failures and setbacks in our life.

Have you ever had a setback? Have you tried something and did not succeed right away? If so, you are making progress? On the other hand, if you say that you have never failed then you are not facing reality. Every child as they take their first steps stumble and fail. But they try again and again until they can walk. And so it is with us. It is only through trying and trying again and again that we get to succeed.

According to the world renowned personal development coach Steve Sims, author of Bluefishing: The Art of Making Things Happen, “People don’t drown from falling in water; they drown from staying there. Entrepreneurs who are able to learn from their experiences and move on when something has cratered or isn’t working are going to be much more likely to achieve great things.”

But there are some of us who are afraid to fail. We think badly of ourselves when we try something and do not succeed. We give up. There are on the other side people who do not give up. They fall, brush themselves up and start again. This quality which we call grit or resiliency is one of the foremost characteristics of an entrepreneur.  Can you increase grit in your life? Are you willing to shoot for the long term gains for the short term gratification?
